【Abstract】 Far beyond vulgarity,the language of Oscar Wilde’s comedies is rich in elegance.Moreover,words about love,moral judgments and attitude of life are abundant in the conversa-tions of the characters in his plays,forming another remarkable trait of the language of Wilde’scomedies.Not only are these traits branded with Victorianism,but they also divulge the subtle re-lationship between Wilde and the Victorian ideology—both catering and rebellious.This relation-ship,to some extent,reflects the ideology of the upper-class in the late-Victorian times.It is oneof the reasons for the recognition and success that Wilde’s comedies had gained among the upper-class audience of his time.更多还原
