【Abstract】 To prevent cultural differences from obstructing cultural dissemination,Legge adopted the strategy of "linguistic transformation plus cultural annotation",thus making his rendering of Shang Shu a "thick translation".Through detailed annotation,the profound meanings in the numeral compact expressions,proper names,allusions,implicit references,etc.,in the original were fully revealed.While highly respecting the Chinese tradition on the study of the Confucian classics and acknowledging the achievemnets made by the previous scholars,Legge never followed or copied anyone blindly.On the contrary,forever with a critical eye,he was able to make independent judgements,logical inferences,and insightful comments about both the original text and the previous studies on it.His version of Shang Shu,together with his renderings of other Chinese classics,has not only helped establishing the style of translation of Confucian classics,but also enriched the modes of the cultural interpretation in intercultural communication.更多还原
