This paper calculated the ultimate strength of stiffened panels of ship structures by the combined theory of strength and stability(CTSS).Comparing the project calculation results from the finite element method,various rules,and Paik's Formula,the CTSS method was shown to be simple,widely applicable,comprehensive,and valid for guiding engineering design due to a difference of only 10%.On this basis,it was concluded that the method of buckling analysis used by CTSS is consistent with the existing rules.
