南海沉积物物质来源研究的意义及其进展
The Significances of and Advances in the Study of Sediment Sources in the South China Sea
【摘要】 南海是典型的边缘海,其沉积物记录了南海古海洋演化、东亚季风演化和区域构造演化等重要信息。南海沉积物的物质来源研究,不仅可以深化边缘海沉积作用过程的认识;同时,为重建南海古海洋演化、探索东亚季风演化提供重要的理论依据。南海北部沉积物主要来自于北部大陆,主要输入河流包括珠江、红河以及台湾岛内河流;而长江物质以及东部吕宋岛弧也可能为南海东北部和东部沉积区提供了重要的物质。南海南部沉积物主要来自于西部印支大陆和南部巽他陆架、加里曼丹岛。南海东部和中部深海盆地,沉积物中的自生沉积矿物和火山碎屑物质含量明显增多。南海沉积物来源复杂,受多种因素影响。南海的环流和气候,对陆源物质进入南海后的扩散方式起到重要的控制作用;构造活动和海平面升降旋回对历史时期的物源演化起着明显的控制作用。运用沉积物的矿物、元素和同位素地球化学方法,进行多元判别指标的物源综合分析,识别出沉积物中各主要粒级组分所蕴含的物源信息,才能有效估算各源区的贡献和模拟各端元碎屑物质进入南海后的迁移与堆积。
【Abstract】 The South China Sea(SCS) is a typical marginal sea,in which the sediments recorded important information about paleooceanography,East Asian monsoon and regional tectonic evolution.The study on sediment sources in the SCS can not only offer a further understanding of sedimentary processes in the marginal sea,but also provide with theoretical evidences for reconstructing the paleooceanography in the SCS and further studying the evolution of East Asian monsoon.The sources of the sediments in the SCS are complicated and controlled by many factors.The sediments in the northern SCS are mainly derived from the northern landmass,where the rivers entering the sea include the Pearl River,the Red River and the rivers in Taiwan Island.The Changjiang River and the Luzon Island Arc located on the east may also supply important material to the northeastern and eastern parts of the SCS.In the southern SCS the sediments are mainly derived from the Indo-China landmass in the west and the Malaya Peninsula and the Kalimantan Island in the south.In the deep basins located in the east and center of the SCS the contents of authigenic minerals and volcanic detritus are found to increase distinctly in the sediments.It has been revealed that the circulations and climatic conditions in the SCS play an important role in controlling the transportation and diffusion of land-sourced materials in the SCS.The tectonic activities and sea-level changes also exerted important influence to the evolution of the sediment sources in the SCS.However,in order to estimate effectively the contributions of different material sources to the SCS and to simulate the transportation and accumulation occuring after all end-member detritus entering into the SCS,it is necessary to extract and recognize the source indicators that hided in the mojor size fractions of the sediments and then to make a comprehensive analysis of sediment sources.
