【Abstract】 African American writer Toni Morrison weaves the ethical theme into her novels.Her masterpiece,Beloved,depicts the black slaves’ sufferings of losing ethical identities and their pursuit of family ethics.As slaves,women were forced to bear children constantly,but they had no rights to protect their children;men were killed or sold frequently.Thus they were deprived of the ethical identities of being parents and the rights to form ethically normal families as well.However,they struggled for their rights.In the novel,Sethe,the protagonist,chooses to kill her baby daughter for freedom and family integrity;Halle tries in vain to realize family reunion through his own hard work.All the tragedies reflect African Americans’ bloody and long-run ethical pursuit and construction.更多还原
