【Abstract】 In Ibsen’s early play Peer Gynt,the hero took the road to religious redemption which full of confliction of religious morals strength and counter-religious evil strength,in the end the moral strength took over Peer Gynt and lead him to the religious redemption.This is the profound theme of the play.Gynt’s redemption was composed by three stages: young Peer yearned for the religious redemption while he escaped it;middle aged Peer gave up religious redemption and late he picked it up again;old Peer converted to religion and got the redemption.Ibsen has present his theme of humanity exploration in this play.Peer Gynt has profound influence to Ibsen’s social issue play and symbolism play.更多还原
