线性损耗下绝缘硅基波导调制不稳定性
Modulation instability in silicon optical waveguides under linear loss
【摘要】 考虑绝缘硅(SOI)波导线性损耗情况下,对SOI波导飞秒脉冲传输调制不稳定性进行了研究.推导了调制不稳定性增益谱的计算公式,导出了峰值增益、峰值增益频率和增益谱带宽的表达式.分析了脉冲峰值功率、群速度色散和线性损耗等参量对调制不稳定性的影响,并以具体结构SOI光子线波导为例进行了模拟.结果表明,即使在微弱光功率下,在反常色散区仍存在强烈的调制不稳定性,其增益是同等光功率光纤介质的102~103倍;线性损耗明显影响SOI波导调制不稳定性增益谱,在传输距离5 mm处,峰值增益频率和增益谱带宽分别降为其最大值的42.68%和41.38%.
【Abstract】 The condition and gain spectra of modulation instability(MI) induced by combined effects of self-phase modulation and waveguide dispersions were investigated under the linear loss of silicon-on-insulator(SOI) waveguide.The impacts of various parameters on MI gain spectra were analyzed theoretically and simulated through a silicon photonic nanowire with specified configuration.Results show that strong MI takes place even in the existence of low light power.The MI peak gain is 102~103 orders of magnitude larger than that of optical fibers with the same light power.Linear loss of waveguide obviously impacts the gain spectra even within short propagation distance.The peak gain frequency and bandwidth of gain spectra decrease to 42.68% and 41.38% of their maximum,respectively,at propagation distance 5 mm.
