Investigation on Correlation of Smoking Caused Lung Cancer with Contents of Hg,Cr,Cd,Pb,Cu,Fe,and Zn Contents in Hair
【Abstract】 Objective To investigate the correlation of smoking caused lung cancer with contents of Hg, Cr,Cd,Pb,Cu,Fe,and Zn hair. Methods Teachers were chosen as investigation subjects.Contents of these seven heavy metals in the hair of 40 healthy and lung cancer sufferers were investigated and comparatively analyzed respect to lung cancer sufferers, smokers or nonsmokers. Results The content of volatile element Hg was high in both the hair of lung cancer sufferers and smokers. The Hg content was higher in the hair of lung cancer sufferers than that of healthy teachers;the result showed statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Although the hair Hg contents among lung cancer sufferers, smokers and nonsmokers were different,P=0.07,the difference was not significant. The reason might be that the sample was too small. The difference of the contents of other elements in the hair of lung cancers sufferers, smokers and nonsmokers did not show significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusions The hazardous element Hg which gets into human body by way of smoking might be one of the causation of lung cancer.
