【Abstract】 This paper reviews the development of modern urban planning ideologies and theories including the contributions of Chinese scholars in the past ten decades. It indicates that the urban planning has multi-disciplinary feature and presents the meaning of distinguishing the "theory in planning" and "planning theory".
