【Abstract】 Nassau William Senior believed that value lies on the utility which is a subjective assessment that is subject to the sparsity of substance. Sparsity is originated from the supplying resistance derived from the production cost. So the value is determined by the production cost. Careful consideration demonstrates that Senior’s value theory links the preceding with the following in the evolvement of western value theory. As for the preceding,it intends to harmonize the conflict in the system of Jean Baptiste Say’s. As for the following,it has a huge influence not only on John Stuart Mill but also on the subjective-value theory and the balance-price theory which both are parts of modern western economics. Therefore,Senior’s value theory has an important historical position and should be paid enough attention to.更多还原
