【Abstract】 The cognitive representation of semantic meaning is a classic issue in the field of cognitive psychology.Our research examined the relation between commendatory/derogatory judgment of Chinese adjectives and vertical spatial information.Experiment 1,in which the spatial Stroop paradigm was adopted,showed that when the relation of an adjective’s commendatory/derogatory meaning and its spatial location were consistent with the up-down image schema,it was judged more quickly.Experiment 2 adopted the priming paradigm and showed that when the relation of an adjective’s commendatory/derogatory meaning and the spatial location of the targeted letter were consistent with the up-down image schema,the target was distinguished more quickly.In conclusion,the fact that the cognitive processing of commendatory and derogatory adjectives activated the up-down image schema demonstrated the vertical spatial properties of adjectives’ commendatory/derogatory meaning representation.更多还原
