【Abstract】 Randy Hendricks identifies a common theme in Southern literature from Robert Penn Warren’s literary works in his newly published book Lonelier than God:Robert Penn Warren and the Southern Exile.He dates back the cultural and historical derivation of this exile or wanderer theme and analyzes the close relationship between this theme and Warren’s Southern awareness.Hendricks places Warren’s works in the different stages of American literary history to reveal Warren’s inheritance and development of this great literary theme.Hendricks’ study reexamines Warren’s literary works from this new perspective.It further reveals the broad range and variety of Warren’s works and opens a new terrain for Warren study.更多还原
