【Abstract】 Since thinking and language are closely interrelated,this paper presents a study of the relationship between the two.The differences in culture,geography and history lead to the discrepancies of the oriental and occidental modes of thinking which inevitably give rise to the differences in language expressions. It proceeds from oriental integrated and occidental analytical thought patterns,then illustrates with their idioms and proverbs which are the typical components of language and culture,and concludes with revelations with regard to the fact that idiomatic and proverbial expressions are not only the typical examples of the discrepancies of thought patterns,but also the generating and definitizing forces.更多还原
