【Abstract】 This paper attempts to employ Deleuze’s theory of immanence to reinterpret Whitman’s poetry, especially his "Song of Myself," arguing that in his unconscious, Whitman, just like Deleuze, is in pursuit of the flowing and selfless affect and desire, where self is in thorough freedom of living. In combination with the study of Whitman’s life experiences, the paper focuses on the catalogues frequently used in Whitman’ s poetry and elaborates on them in terms of the following three aspects: the fragmented structures and their profound connotations, the nomadic or schizophrenic subjects and Whitman’s pursuit of pure affect.更多还原
