【Abstract】 After World War Two,Tibet became an essential part of US Asian strategy. On the eve of the founding of the People’s Republic of China,the Central Intelligence Agency secretly dispatched its agents to Tibet,in an attempt to urge separatist forces in Tibet to establish close ties with the US. However,the US government has consistently denied its involvement. Drawing on the newly released US government files,this paper examines in detail the secret expedition of two CIA agents,Douglas Mackiernan and Frank Bessac,with the aim of restoring the historical truth of the covert US operation that backed the Tibetan separatists against the new-born power of China.更多还原
