【Abstract】 A ship may need a place of refuge provided by a coastal state for purpose of repair,logistic support or medical treatment in case that it is damaged during voyage.This paper summarizes the backgrounds and the functions of place of refuge provided to ensure the safety of the ship and lives onboard and protection of marine environment.It also introduces the views of the International Maritime Organization(IMO) and the relevant countries concerning providing place of refuge as well as the elements to be considered.更多还原
