【Abstract】 Omission is frequently used in Japanese oral communication on the phonetic, morphological and syntactic levels.This paper probes into the subtitles in Japanese TV drama,revealing the close relationship between omission and the Japanese culture.It argues that the forms of omission,which are succinct and implicit,are closely related to the inherent social cultural background of Japan,and its outlook on language and social values.The use of omission can save time,coordinate interpersonal relationship and promote harmony.更多还原
