Driving force for human-induced soil degradation
【Abstract】 Based on World Soil Resources Report 2000,the severity and dominant cause of human-induced soil degradation,together with the serious soil degradation due to agricultural activities in the world were discussed.The correlation between degree of human-induced soil degradation and population density,per capita GDP was analyzed in this paper,while the trend of serious human-induced soil degradation was predicted in China.The results showed that 65 percent of the world soil was degraded with human activities at different extents;improper agricultural activities were one of the major factors of land degradation;higher population densities may cause more serious degradation,while higher per capita GDP is helpful to control soil degradation.Increasing investment and improving land use type are effective measure to moderate pressure of population on land.
【Key words】 soil degradation; driving force; population density; GDP per capita;
