【Abstract】 Many translation enthusiasts and practitioners show great interest in prose translation. However,their translations can’t live up to expectations because of the lack of scientific theories and insufficient practice. So how should they improve the quality of their translations? Professor Liu Shichong proposes the theory of "artistic flavor" on the basis of decades of research. He points out that rhythm,mood and style should be put into consideration in order to reproduce the artistic flavor of a prose. This theory serves as a good guidance in prose translation.
