【摘要】 对《荀子》中的45个"故曰",前人或不加训释,或一概译为"所以说"。其实这45个"故曰"的使用情况可分为:①先议论后总结的,这种"故曰"确可译为"所以说",其后为荀子语言,共有17例,占37·8%;②先引述后申说的,这种"故曰"则当译为"老话说"(或译作"旧书上说",个别的则要译作"所以前人说"等),其后乃属引语性质,共有28例,占62·2%。分辨这些情况,不但有助于准确地解读,而且对剖析《荀子》内部的语料层面具有重要意义。更多还原

【Abstract】 There are forty-five "Gu Yue" in Xun Zi with no explanation or being regarded as having the same meaning as "that is to say" . In fact, these forty-five "Gu Yue" can be categorized according to different contexts. First, if argument is made before summary, such "Gu Yue" can be explained as "that is to say" . There are seventeen examples of such cases, accounting for 37.8% among all forty-five "Gu Yue" . Second, if quotation is made before explanation, such "Gu Yue" should be expounded to "as the old saying goes" , "as the saying in old books goes" , or "as the predecessor said" . There are twenty-eight examples of such cases, accounting for 62.2%.By making differentiation among these cases, it is possible to decode Xun Zi in an accurate way and analyze its language in a significant way.更多还原
