【Abstract】 This essay focuses on Cai Yuanpei’s contribution to the development of journalism in modern China.It makes the argument that Cai’s engagement in journalism,both as a journalist and as a strong supporter of the idea that journalism should be taught as an academic discipline,was a critical part of his life as an intellectual and an educator. Cai’s commitment to journalism appears to have stemmed from his belief in the need for social and political revolution in China.While his engagement with journalism was long lasting,it is also evident that his ideas about journalism changed over time.更多还原
