【Abstract】 A fast license plate localization algorithm which is from coarse to precious is presented. First, it applies a mathematical morphology linear operator to enhance the dense regions of horizontal edges, such as the license plate area, to get the coarse position of the license plate. After binaryzation of the coarse license plate area, it uses the characteristics of line scanning to obtain the precise position of license plate.
