【Abstract】 Eugene O’Neill is the founder of American modern theater.His plays are usually identifiable with the real life and abound in philosophical meanings.Desire Under the Elms,one of his early plays,expresses his views on women.Through analyses of three female characters in this play,the thesis investigates how the self-consciousness of the female characters is becoming stronger and stronger as time goes on.Therefore,O’Neill is also a dramatist with feminist consciousness who shows great concern for the living conditions of women.更多还原
