【Abstract】 With the rapid development of China’s aquaculture,the quality of conventional aquatic products has been increasingly declining owing to environmental pollution and abuse of aquaculture drugs. As a sustainable developing model,organic aquaculture is aiming at food safety and environmental protection. It is the developing direction and trend of aquiculture in the 21st century of China. The connotation and the principles of organic aquaculture were elaborated. The background and status quo of the development of organic aquaculture in China were discussed.
