【Abstract】 This essay refers separately to the origins, definitions, functions of "He (harmony)" and "De (virtue)", the relationship between man and "He " and "De ", and the relationship between society and "He " and "De " in ancient Greece and ancient China. It also refers to the relations between the two terms. Comparatively speaking, we can conclude that He and De mean "humanistic virtue" and " natural beauty" in ancient Greek music but "political virtue" and "postnatal beauty" in ancient China.
