【Abstract】 Reading and writing are two key skills that English language learners are supposed to master. At present, however, reading is much more emphasized than writing in English teaching for non-English majors. Writing has been taken as a subordinate course to Comprehensive English and Reading course. Former researchers claim that reading exerts a powerful influence on writing, that reading widely contributes to writing, and that teaching writing skills in reading course is of great help too. But research on the relationship between reading and writing reports that reading and writing are interdependent, interactional but relatively independent. This means that writing has its own magic power and a strong effect on reading. Only by understanding the interaction between reading and writing can we combine them perfectly in English teaching, improving English learners’ reading and writing abilities.
