【Abstract】 A method called as cost-element is presented with its coherent concepts and operational rules, also its theory framework is established preliminarily. Based on the analysis of the task of cost reduction, the process of cost reduction during product design phase described by cost-element method is discussed, then cost-element oriented strategy for modeling the process of cost reduction is proposed.
