【Abstract】 This paper analyzes the gains and losses of traditional examination methods for foundational mechanics courses and, taking into consideration the current situations of teaching foundational mechanics courses, puts forward some examination methods which are good for the development of teaching such courses: to highlight the testing of students’ ability to master basic knowledge in this field, to solve engineering problems in practice, and to do experiment design and settle problems with their hands.
