An Experimental Study of the Protective Effect of Aminoguanidine and Vitamin C on Immune Function of Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Rats
【Abstract】 Objective To observe the effect of Aminoguanidine and Vitamin C on immune function of Streptozotocin-induced Diabetic Rats. Methods Diabetic nephropathy rats were induced by intraperitoneal injection of STZ. Rats were allocated to normal control group, model group, Vitamin C group, Aminoguanidine group, Vitamin C and Aminoguanidine group. All rats were treated with corresponding drugs for 4 weeks. During and after the treatment, the general state, blood gloucose levels, immunoglobulin G, immunoglobulin M, and peripheral blood leucocyte in different groups were tested. Results ① Infection rate in all the four model groups increased. ② Aminoguanidine and Vitamin C have no effect on blood gloucose le- vels, while they could improve the general state, increase immunoglobulin G, immunoglobulin M, and peripheral blood leucocyte. ③ Combined two drugs have a cooperated action. Conclusion Aminoguanidine and Vitamin C have no effect in decreasing the blood sugar level but can improve immune function.
