Through the field research of landform and cultural sites in Guanting basin of the upper reaches of the Yellow River in Qinghai Province, the authors analyzed the structure of the second terrace of Guanting basin and concluded that the second terrace came into being in middle Holocene. The second terrace turned into a complex terrace because of the slackwater sediments caused by the Yellow River's flood in late Holocene.
