【Abstract】 An efficient lossless compression algorithm for radar images in a VDR is proposed. Based on the analysis of characteristic of radar signal, this algorithm adequately digs out the information redundancy in radar images and applies predictive coding on them. Firstly, the algorithm compresses them with inter-frame predictive coding, and resolves the possible problem of error accumulation. When applying predictive coding within a frame, the algorithm uses a predicting mechanism which follows the direction of minimum local gradient.
