Dialects are regarded as a linguistic and social phenomenon.The formation of Mongolian dialects has also gone through a long history and reflected rather complicated social backgrounds.The paper discusses the internal varieties of Horchin dialects and historical development of Horchin tribes on the basis of historical lin- guistics,especially comparative methods,and then the effect of language contact on Horchin dialects.
