【Abstract】 This paper starts from university English syllabus to demonstrate the application of the theory of conversational implicatures to the teaching of English listening, providing a way in listening training that while students are comprehending the conversation, they should not only try to understand the sentences literally, but also read between the lines to have a deeper understanding of the speakers’ real intention.
