【Abstract】 Both Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne were the representatives of American literature in the middle of the 19th century.Both of them were masters with high reputation in writing gothic novels.This article analyses the implication of the color—black,from the two short gothic stories The Black Cat and The Ministers Black Veil separately written by Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne,to reveal the two writers quite different literary theories and themes in their works.更多还原
