【Abstract】 The paper researching into festival changes in the capital city and its environs during the Ming and Qing period is based on many kinds of historical materials such as gazetteers, special books on geography, sketches and so on. The study has unveiled the characteristics increasingly tending to institutionalization, commercialization, variegation, popularization, nationalization, modernization and so on.
