Synthesis and Crystal Structure of a Dicyanamide-bridged One-dimensional Gadolinium(III) Complex [Gd(dca)3(phen)2(H2O)]n

【Abstract】 A chainlike coordination polymer [Gd(dca)3(phen)2(H2O)]n (dca = dicyanamide, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) has been synthesized, and its crystal structure was characterized by X-ray single-crystal diffraction. The crystal belongs to monoclinic, space group P21/n with a = 10.6581(13), b = 15.6129(16), c = 17.733(3) ,  = 90.499(5)o, V = 2950.8(7) 3, Z = 4, C30H18GdN13O, Mr = 733.82, Dc = 1.652 g/cm3, F(000) = 1444, (MoK) = 0.71073 , = 2.297 mm-1, R = 0.0258 and wR = 0.0616 for 4570 observed reflections (I > 2((I)). In this complex, the gadolinium atom is nine-coordinated by four dca anions, two chelated phen ligands and one H2O molecule in a distorted tricapped trigonal prism. Two bridging dca anions connect the Gd(III) ions yielding chainlike polymers that are linked by hydrogen bonds and (-( interactions to form a three-dimensional network.
