【Abstract】 The present study was aimed at exploring the effect of integrative and instrumental motivation on second language proficiency by incorporating expectancy-value theory. Learners who were instrumentally motivated performed significantly better than the integratively motivated group in the Band Four Examination. Moreover, it was found that the desired outcomes in the expectancy model, motivational intensity and language proficiency correlated each other significantly.更多还原
