【Abstract】 Fuhui 838, an indica restorer in rice, was developed after 15 years breeding by ways of irradiation and cross- ing. It has been used by a number of Chinese institutes of rice research and 15 hybrid rice combinations have been bred from Fuhui 838. The first hybrid rice combination of restorer Fuhui 838 is II You 838, which has high yield, better adaptability and outstanding ability to resist rice diseases in extremely hot weather. II You 838 is now the most popular hybrid rice in china.
