【Abstract】 Novel is the narrative literature of describing typical social life, it has close relation with social life, therefore in the ancient Chinese novels particularly the popular literature, honest, loyalty, good faith, trustworthiness were the themes extolled by novelists. This is a positive honest & faith sense; it is of the same view of benevolence advocated by the Confucianists and self - discipline spirit advocated by Buddhism. However, when the honest & faith sense is trampled, it becomes a distorted moral concept. This is a moral changing process, and during this changing process, it inevitably engenders revenge recording the emotion course of mankind resentment. This is because when honest and good faith are trampled and deserted, the hurt party based on the deceived indignation and hurt hostility will make reprisals, and the perfidiously hurt party normally becomes a revenge subject. Thus a inner link between the honest & faith sense and revenge subject is engendered. This paper elaborates the inner links between honest & faith sense and revenge theme through analyzing the related contents of MING and QING Dynasties’ short stories.更多还原
