PMD对NOLM光开关性能的影响及其补偿措施

【摘要】 基于耦合非线性薛定谔方程,采用分步傅里叶方法分析了一阶和二阶PMD对NOLM光开关性能的影响,指出PMD造成NOLM开关性能钝化,引起消光比严重恶化,采用合适的码型能在一定程度上减少PMD的影响.提出了一种在NOLM光纤环中内置保偏光纤以补偿PMD的方法,其补偿位置位于光纤环中点时对开关性能影响最小.

【Abstract】 The impact of the first and second-order polarization mode dispersion(PMD) on the performance of optical switch with nonlinear optical loop mirror(NOLM) is analyzed by the split-step Fourier method based on the coupled nonlinear Schrdinger equation.The switch performance and the extinction ratio are deteriorated badly by PMD.The impact of PMD can be partially reduced by using the right code pattern.Furthermore,the compensation method of PMD by the polarization-maintaining fiber(PMF) inside the fiber loop of NOLM is discussed.It influences the switch performance to the least extent when the PMF is located in the middle of the fiber loop.
