【Abstract】 Ship handling Simulator plays more and more important role in maritime training and is progress toward large scale network. The DIS based legacy ship handling simulator can not gratify the need of development. The new generation standard of distribution simulation HLA have accounted for the reusability and expansibility of simulation system, the DIS based legacy shiphandling simulator needs to transform gradually to HLA architecture. Considering present practice, DIS/HLA gateway is the best one of solutions to rapidly interconnection between DIS and HLA. It is points out that gateway should have the basic functions, and gateway structure is divided into a few modules in the paper.
