突发传输下TCP对无线局域网吞吐量的影响
Impact of TCP on throughput performance of WLAN under bursting transmission
【摘要】 研究了媒体接入控制(MAC)层的突发传输方式对无线局域网(WLAN)吞吐量性能的改善、传输控制协议(TCP)对MAC层吞吐量和应用层吞吐量的影响.建立了无线局域网的仿真平台,得到在采用与不采用TCP协议两种情况下的MAC层和应用层吞吐量变化趋势,并对TCP制约突发传输优越性的原因进行探讨.仿真表明,突发传输方式提高网络吞吐量性能的关键是传输帧数,应用TCP协议的网络运行时需要根据网络负载选择合适的传输帧数,保证良好的网络吞吐量和时延(抖动)性能.
【Abstract】 The throughput improvement of wireless local area network (WLAN) under bursting transmission mode and the influence of TCP were studied. With and without considering TCP, the throughput trends of medium access control(MAC) layer and application layer were obtained by simulation. It was discussed why and how the advantages of bursting transmission were limited by TCP. Simulation results show that the key for the bursting transmission mode to improve WLAN throughput is the number of the frame exchanges in a transmission. For a network applying TCP, frame exchange number should be determined according to network loads so as to ensure good throughput and delay (jitter) performance.
