【摘要】 基于WebGIS目前存在的一些不足,提出构建基于WebService的WebGIS系统,并说明这种系统的优势和特点。通过对正在开发的基于WebService的WebGIS系统的设计和一些已经完成的工作的介绍,来说明系统的可行性和先进性。

【Abstract】 The software of WebGIS is different from traditional GIS software in architecture. It is developed by using client/server system architecture which is divided into client, application and database. WebGIS is more open and in of accord with the tendency of GIS. However, the most sofewares of WebGIS are independent and they are difficult to reuse. So at present there is some limitation of using many softwares of WebGIS together. Web Service Architecture is a new model of dynamic distributed computing. In this architecture applications are encapsulated as Web Services to publish, which can be discovered or invoked by other consumers and companies crossing different object models, operating systems and programming languages, thus the Web will become a platform applying not only to information but also to services,which can make up for the limitation of WebGIS. This paper expounds the necessity of developing the WebGIS which should be based on WebService.It will demonstrate the advantage and feasibility of this kind of WebGIS through the design and some accomplished jobs of the WebGIS based on WebService which is being developed.
