【Abstract】 The protagonist and narrator, Holder Caulfield in Catcher in the Rye, addresses his elder brother with the initialized name D.B., which bears unique meanings."Old", as one of the narrator’s narrative idiosyncrasies, occurs before almost everyone’s names, including some of the names of the objects. The different frequency of the appearances of "old" before different names betrays Holden’s unique attitude towards his elder brother, from which we see the interaction between surface text and deep text.更多还原
