【Abstract】 AIM:To observe electromyogram(EMG) manifestations of the lateral pterygoid muscle(LPM) spasm before and after treatment by introducing of calciumions,and to investigate the feasibility of curative effect. METHODS:The EMG of the LPM were recorded in 35 adult patients with mono lateral spasm. The EMG manifestions of the superior and inferior head of LPM were recorded by ZEP 500 evoked potential equipment(EPE) during the intercuspal position(ICP) and movements of opening mouth in 1.0 and 2.5 cm.The changes of EMG were detected before and after introduction of calciumions. RESULTS:There was no significant difference in superior and inferior head of LPM when movements of opening mouth before and after introduction of calciumions(t=0.31,0.24 respectively,P > 0.05),neither when opening mouth at 2.5 cm(t=0.34,0.16 repectively,P > 0.05). There was significant difference when opening at 1.0 cm in superior and inferior head of LPM(t=2.00,2.32 respectively,P > 0.05). CONCLUSION:The EMG manifestations of LPM spasm are significantly reduced by treatment of introduction of calciumions.It provides theoretical and practical support for curative effect.更多还原
