【Abstract】 Benjamin Franklin is one of the most important literary men during the colonial period of North America. He witnessed the American transiti on from P uritanism to Enlightenment. Though Puritanism doesn’t dominate his thought, it s hows its influence in Franklin’s literary works. The Way to Wealth is a good case in point. ″Diligence″ and ″frugality″, the two kernel moral standards that he puts forward in it, are distinct representati on of the influence of Puritanic labor-for-God belief and its asceticism on him. However , influenced by the historical surroundings and his own outlook of values, his Puritanism is characterized by a strong flavor of pragmatism and ration alism.更多还原
