【Abstract】 The mechanism of non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) remains unclear. It is believedthat both b-cell dysfunction and insulin resistance (IR) play critical roles in the NIDDM. Obesity might contributeto not only IR but also b-cell dysfunction during the compensate stage. High-risk population has higher risk fordeveloping NIDDM than the other population.
