【Abstract】 Based on an introduction of the general situation and natural conditions of the ancient seawalls constructed in Ming and Qing Dynasties on the north bank of the Qiantang River, the technique of erosion-control wall reinforced with sheet piles is proposed for foot erosion control of the ancient seawalls, and a multifunctional pile driver which can be operated under remote control is developed. The technique has been applied to a length of 9.9 km of the seawall in the seawall foot erosion control project in Haining City, and 52 million Yuan (RMB) is saved.
