【Abstract】 Since the 1960s, American poetry has entered the public sphere because of the establishment of the writing course at universities, different poetry prizes, new and old, the poet-in-residence program and the poet-laureate program. Poetry of this period can be divided into realism, new formalism and language poetry, the last among which is highly experimental. Besides, the influence of minority poets is gaining momentum. On the whole, American poetry of the late 20th century is multi-cultural but lacks a master or authority like T. S. Eliot.更多还原
