The Investigation of Human Follicle Mite Infection in College Students
【Abstract】 Objective To investigation infection status of human follicle mite s among the local college students and to explore the relationship between human follicle mites infection and dermatosis. Methods 468 local college students wer e selected for the diagnosis of human follicle mites infection using transparent adhesive tape method. Facial skin and dorm of each student was examined and the related current situation was recorded. Results The infection rate of human fol licle mites of the local university student was 18.16%(18.37%in male and 17.84 %in female). The 87.06%(74/85)infected students were found to have 1~3 human follicle mites .In 85 infected students, 60(70.59%) were infected with Demodex folliculorum; 13(15.29%) were infected with Demodex brevis; and 12 (14.12%) we re infected with both. There was no significant difference in the infection rate between male and female (P >0.05). There was no significant difference in the i nfection rate between those people from city or town and rural (P >0.05). The in fection rate of the students who had rulgaris, folliculitis or ectatic folliculu s pili was higher than the normal ones and the students who had itch(P< 0.05). The infection rate of the students who had itch was the same as the normal ones (P >0.05).The infection of human follicle mites had clustering in dormitories(P < 0.01). Conclusions The infection of human follicle mites was common in the loc al college and was likely the cause of dermatosis. The vast majority of the infe ction among the student was caused by Demodex folliculorum. The Demodex mite inf ection might be transmitted through the same dormitories.
